Lately In Mont Belvieu, we’ve had a boom in the restaurant industry. The community is expanding everyday and so is the rivalry in the restaurant industry– particularly between Jersey Mike’s, Firehouse Subs, and Subway.
My friend and I decided to test out one of the three, Firehouse Subs. Now at first glance one thing I noticed was that it is located in an odd place and it’s very difficult to drive into. The interior was not exactly impressive, but it was very clean.
We asked a customer in the store her thoughts about the new Firehouse. She was upset when the shop on Garth Road closed and was overjoyed that the Mont Belvieu establishment opened.
However, our experience, on the other hand, was not so phenomenal. My friend ordered her salad as a meal, so she was supposed to get chips, cookies, and a drink on the side. But as she received her order, there was only the salad; this was all despite the fact she repeated that she wanted the meal multiple times to the cashier. The food itself was okay, and the cookie they gave was probably the best part.
Subway has been in Mont Belvieu a lot longer than FireHouse Subs and Jersey Mike’s. Personally, it’s the one I trust most out of the three. It’s the store I have the most experience with, and it has the best variety. You can get so many different food items there from salads to footlongs to cookies. It’s reliable because there’s more than one in Mont Belvieu, and because I’m always certain it will be at least decent. One thing that tends to drive people away from Subway is the customer service. The store only has two people working on a shift which could cause stress for both sides of the interaction. All fast food chains have pros and cons, but overall Subway shows to be a reliable sandwich shop.
Jersey Mike’s is the one out of the three stores I still haven’t visited as it’s not open yet in Mont Belvieu. A review of the Jersey Mike’s on Garth Road states, “Five stars for customer service. All of the employees were nice and engaging. The manager was professional and seemed to really enjoy his work.” Other reviews mention how fresh the meat is and that the atmosphere is nice. Although I don’t know much about this chain, I think it will fit right in with Eagle Drive and may even present some competition against Subway.
I don’t know if anything can truly beat a good old Subway sandwich, but if it’s between Jersey Mike’s and Firehouse Subs, Jersey Mike’s will no doubt win the popularity war.
