Toasted Yolk

Cracks Open its Doors

On December 4th,The egg-cellent breakfast and lunch place, the Toasted Yolk, just had its grand opening just off of I-10 in the HEB shopping strip, in the heart of Mont Belvieu. Known for their fantastic twists on classic breakfast items, such as the “churro-style” donuts, the Toasted Yolk and its various locations have offered the peak brunch experience, and many students are glad that they have a chance to try their expansive menu.

Not only is the Toasted Yolk filling the void for Mont Belvieu breakfast places, but the owners even contributed ten percent of opening day profits to the Barbers Hill Project Graduation Class of 2024, a testament to the fact that its grand opening was met with great reception among the community. So much so, that ever since its opening the parking lot has been filled to the brim with cars trying to get a taste of the renowned brunch location.

However, this has been a cause for concern among people who fear the apparent extreme wait for a table. To give some perspective and context on the restaurant’s wait times and overall service and food quality, we have senior Ryan Castleberry.

“Me and my family went the day after opening around lunch time, expecting to wait about thirty minutes for a table,” senior Ryan Castleberry said,  “but when we got inside, we only had to wait about five to ten minutes to get seated. I would give the Toasted Yolk a solid eight of ten due to its good service, speedy wait times, and tasty food.”

Even the day right after opening, with only a couple open spots in the parking lot, the staff of the Toasted Yolk managed to efficiently seat new patrons in a timely manner. Needless to say, the establishment has set a fairly good first impression on patrons, which suggests that the Toasted Yolk will be here to stay for all to enjoy.

The Toasted Yolk doesn’t just offer quick and delicious food however, it also provides jobs for some of the Barbers Hill Students.

“Working [here] has been very rewarding,” junior and Toasted Yolk hostess Carly Abseck said. “It helps create good communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.”

So not only is the Toasted Yolk serving smiles, but it is also teaching the working-age students at Barbers Hill important life skills that will help them succeed later in future careers.

Thus far, the introduction of the Toasted Yolk in Mont Belvieu appears to be positive for the community as a whole, and will no doubt become a staple for weekend brunches. With its overall moderate prices and impressive service, which even includes refills for non-fountain drinks (a rarity for breakfast places), there is absolutely no reason to drive out and give it a try if you haven’t already. Whether you’re a pancake person or a sandwich someone, the Toasted Yolk has a top tier experience for all.
